It was just for the eighth time when the experts from the mining, building and treatment industry met at the International Demonstration Fair EXPO Mokrá 2010 held on 22 – 24 June in stone pit in Mokrá u Brna, belonging to the company Českomoravský cement, a.s., succession company. In contract with the previous three years, the fair moved from the Western quarry to the central part – the Central quarry. The whole trade fair area was located on bench 380, occupying the area of 70 000 m². Cross country motor cars and dampers could have used for the accompanying program even the area of the lower bench 365, offering another 10 000 m². The height difference of 15 m was solved by a "go-down" with a slope of 45° that the off roads and dampers easily managed – many of the fans of strong vehicles present on site personally convinced themselves about it.

Even though nobody expected the sun to appear – after those long-lasting stable rains, extremely low temperatures and unfavourable meteorological forecasts – it finally appeared and pleasantly warmed the exhibitors for the whole time of the fair duration. But the fact that more than 10 000 visitors came to see the fair was not caused only by the sunny weather. More than 25 000 invitations were sent before the fair opening. The visitors arrived from the Czech Republic, but also from all the other parts of Europe. Our German colleagues arrived by helicopter and landed directly at the parking next to the exhibition area. Naturally, it is necessary to thank all the media partners, who significantly supported the fair promotion in the CR and abroad. The fair was supported by: Minerální Suroviny / Raw Materials, Stavební a investorské noviny / Building and Investor Newspapers, Doprava a silnice / Transport and Roads, Strojník mechanik / Engineer mechanic, Magazín stavebné stroje a mechanizácia / Building Machines and Mechanisation Magazine, EnviWeb, Lobby, Ekologie a společnost / Ecology and Society, Stavební technika / Building Engineering, Kámen/ Stone, Uhlí Rudy Geologický průzkum / Coal, Ores, Geological Research, Strojní kaleidoskop / Mechanical Kaleidoscope, Betonserver,, Kult, Združenie bánickych spolkov a cechov / Association of Mining Societies and Corporations, Deník / Daily, Trucker, AT International, Gesteins – Perspektiven, Mining Journal, Miro.

The importance of the EXPO Mokrá fair is confirmed even by many important personalities accepting patronage of this year's fair – among them Vladimír Tošovský, Minister of Industry and Trade, Rut Bízková, Minister of the Environment, Ivo Pěgřímek, Chairman of the Czech Mining Authority, Michal Hašek, Hetman of the South Moravian Region and Roman Onderka, Major of the statutory town of Brno. The visitors had a chance to see exhibitions of 129 exhibitors, presenting the most up-to-date machines, equipment and engineering. It was possible to see the operation of mining machines, raw ore preparation machines, equipment for construction material recycling, off road vehicles, loading and transport engineering, machines and technological lines for aggregate crushing and sorting, weights and weighing equipment or products for environment-friendly operation. The fair is a rare and unique event thanks to the possibility of seeing the machines in real operation. More, the atmosphere of the fair is really specific thanks to the quarry environment. The quarry walls with apparent fold structure and tectonic deformation of limestone layers of the Líšeň and Macocha group of strata uncover far history, when carbonate rocks in extensive sedimentation basins developed in Devonian and lower Carboniferous periods.

Even though the participation of visitors and exhibitors was lower compared to previous year, we do believe that this is an excellent result in the time of savings. The exhibition companies showed that they have still a lot to offer and the visitors showed that they go on in their interest in news and innovations. In most of the cases, the responses of exhibitors were enthusiastic. All of them obtained many new contacts, they strengthened current partnerships and many of them sold their machines directly at the fair. More, its is necessary to take into consideration the fact that most of the EXPO Mokrá fair visitors are the expert community members – and in this respect the demonstration fair EXPO Mokrá is absolutely unrivalled!

The trouble-free course of preparations and realisation of the trade fair was supported even by the willingness and goodwill of all the employees of Mokrá quarry under management of Mr. Milan Beneš.
